Scholarships

Full and partial scholarships are available for the conference. We are making every effort to allow those with limited funds to attend and no one is turned down for scholarships that are requested by February 15. We do ask, though, that if you are applying for a scholarship, you agree to work. We also ask that even if you receive a scholarship, you support the hotel if at all possible---as that is what makes it possible for us to host it there.

To apply for a scholarship, please send an e-mail to LifeisGoodConference@comcast.net introducing yourself, explaining your situation briefly, and describing work you might be willing to do.

If you are willing to help support the scholarship program, please check the box on your registration form and let us know how much you'd like to contribute! Thank you for your generosity! Scholarships are supported by donations and by the Raffle & Silent Auction.

Conference Directory

We are going to do a conference directory with family photos again this year.

If you are attending the conference and would like to be in the directory, please send the following info to Brenda at wilsonfamily299@sbcglobal.net. (It would be nice if the directory was as complete as possible, but you do not have to put ALL the info if you do not want to):

- photo of your family (either snail mail or email)
- Your Info:
- Names of people in photo
- Ages of Children
- Email Addr / screen name
- Lists you are on
- Mailing Addr
- Phone #
- Is this your first conference?
- Are you willing to host traveling unschoolers?
- Do you have a blog?
- Anything you would like to add about your family?
- Do you have a great unschooling story? Please tell us.
- If you want to tell us how you came to unschooling, we want to know.

If you would like to purchase a directory, there is a $15 processing fee. Please email Brenda for payment instructions.

Raffle & Silent Auction

The Raffle & Silent Auction are a fun way that we raise funds for Scholarships. At the conference, raffle items will be displayed, each with a bag for tickets. You can buy tickets and place them in as many bags as you like. At the end of the conference we'll draw names from each bag and you may take any items you've won with you.

We'd love to get a wide variety of items donated. Popular items include toys, games, books, knitted or crafted items, baskets, goodies, music - really, anything unschoolers will enjoy.

Our Silent Auction Basket theme is LIFE is Good! - Things that make life good! If your family would like to donate a basket, just put together some things that you think make life good. You can use any kind of container - it doesn't have to be a "basket". Use your imagination and have a great time with this!

To donate an item or basket, contact LifeisGoodConference@comcast.net or just bring it along to the conference with you. We'll take it from there.

Instant Gratification Table

This is a chance for the younger members of our community to participate in the raffle without any waiting or disappointment. They get to exchange one ticket for any item on the table. The table has small toys, temporary tattoos, bubbles, stickers and other similar items. We need donations for the table, so start collecting!

What does the conference fee cover?

The fee covers all presentations, funshops, conference bags and scheduled events from Thursday through Sunday at 5:00 p.m. It does not cover t-shirts, hotel or food.

Why did the price go up from last year?

We've added an extra day of fun and community! But you can still attend the 2008 conference at 2007 prices if you register before September 15, 2007 and take advantage of the early bird discount.

Is this thing good for kids?

It's really, really cool for kids. They are welcome at all funshops and presentations. There are lots of unschooled kids and teens to meet and hang out with. We'll also have a video game room for our gamers and a playspace with toys set up to help entertain our littlest unschoolers.

Is there a Yahoo Group for this conference?

But of course! Click here to join. There is also a group just for kids and teens who are going to the conference. Click here to check it out.
